Announcing: Short Story Contest!

Cross post from www.yourstorycentral.com...

Who: The contest is open to writers of all ages, published or unpublished, and will be judged in two categories: "Under 15" and "16 to Adult." (U.S. residents only.)

What: We want to read your original, previously unpublished Short, Christian, Family-Fiction written between now and April 2nd! Keep it between 1,000 and 2,500 words, and be sure to read our content guidelines here since I'll be judging by those standards. Other things I'll take into consideration include general good writing practices, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, understandability, etc.

When: Starting now and ending midnight, April 2nd.

Where: You can find all the fun here at www.yourstorycentral.com and by following @perryelisabeth1's hashtag #ysccontest on Twitter.

Why: Two VERY important reasons. One, there are lots of you out there who have a gift for writing, and I want to encourage you and give you an opportunity to share your work. And, two, I'm due to have our second baby very soon, so I will be on "vacation" from managing the normal posting schedule.

How: It's pretty simple, really. Check out our content guidelines, think of an idea, write it up, polish and edit, and submit it here before midnight, April 2nd. That's all there is to it!

Wait! There are PRIZES!!
There will be one winner for each age category; each will receive a $10 Amazon gift certificate and special journal/notebook. The winning stories will be posted on Your Story Central for everyone to enjoy. Stories that are runners-up and honorable mentions will also be shared as scheduling permits!

If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me via one of the methods in the dropdown menu above.

  1. Do you still allow it if it's already a self published short story? :)

    1. Hi, Rebecca!
      Thanks for your question.
The instructions above state submissions should be "...original, previously unpublished Short, Christian, Family-Fiction written between now and April 2nd!" In other words, it should be something that was written after January 23, 2014 and has not been previously published in any way.
This is both to avoid any legal issues with publishing rights, and to encourage people to write something new specifically for the Story Central audience. :)
      I hope that helps!
      Perry
