Write in Your Head

Right now, I am getting zero words onto paper. And, no, that's not a cyber-joke about typing rather than using a pencil. I recently married my best friend, the man of my dreams, and I have been quite busy making a home for him. I feel a longing to get back to my writing projects that so need to be finished. At the moment, however, the kitchen, the laundry, and some yet-packed boxes call. What can I do to keep my writing juices flowing? Our house is very quiet, and no matter what I am doing, there is plenty of time and space to think. Almost without trying, my mind wanders back to crafting with words. I mentally explore how I might express a character's emotion, I generate story ideas using what-ifs. (And then promptly forget them, and spend the next day trying to remember if it was anything worth jotting down.) I do not write an entire story in my mind; that would become frustrating, and would definitely be distracting. Rather, I play. It's incredibly fun!
I will be happy to settle down to some daily writing once again, but in the meantime, I will be one happy--if not mentally pre-occupied--bride and homemaker.
